THE ETHICUREAN

The Ethicurean is a unique organic restaurant in the heart of the west country. They grow all of their own vegetables in their stunning Victorian walled garden and serve them in the restaurant in ways that you’ve never tasted before. We were asked to redesign their front of house as part of a huge overhaul of the restaurant and kitchen. A fire pit is now the main feature of the kitchen and they cook most of, if not all of the food using it, therefore we charred local Douglas Fir to use as the main timber in the cladding of the counters to represent their new approach to cooking. We then offset this dark aesthetic with solid brass laminated ends and kick-plates, the final detail is a solid brass inlay around the leading edge of the European oak worktops and black leather handles. Further down the end of the restaurant is a Formica and Oak storage and display unit where some of their Curiosities are on display. Above the bar is a glass rack designed and made by Oli Hallett Metalworks complete with matching brass details.
